Living the Mission
The world really has come to Seattle University. On Nov. 18, SU hosted the Opus Prize, one of the world's largest faith-based humanitarian awards. The 2008 recipients—Maggie Barankitse of Burundi, Africa, who received the $1 million Opus award, Michael Woodard of Nicaragua and Krishnammal Jagannathan of India—are truly inspiring. Each shared their profound stories at a press conference, a sold-out celebration at Benaroya Hall and on campus during Mission Day.

Hall of Famers in attendance were Pat Lesser Harbottle, '55, Janet Hopps Adkisson, '56, Sue Turina Bangasser, '81, Sue Stimac Verduin, '83, and Julie Holmes Woodward, '92.

The annual soiree raises money for a great cause—student scholarships. This year's gala, attended by 920 friends, donors and supporters of SU, raised $850,000.

That's the Spirit
School pride and spirit was in abundance on a recent sunny Saturday afternoon as students participated in the 5th Annual KCBCMX Games, sponsored by the Residence Hall Association. Faces were painted with school colors and Redhawks gear was prevalent as students demonstrated their might in various activities, including tug-o-war. Live rock music kicked up the energy even more.
